Scarborough Transcriptions
From this page you can access the text and images in five of the main historical reference sources, together with a couple of less important works, for the town of Scarborough in North Yorkshire.
Scarborough History
Primarily designed as a resource for find information in these large volumes quickly it also serves as a excellent resource for geneologists as many family names are listed within the works.
The work involved in compilingthis database was huge as each page had to scanned then re-scanned using character recognition software. The pages were then manually proof checked to remove inevitable errors created from the ocr process.
The database is currently hosted on a server in my shed which known to run at less than 100% uptime. If you get no response, try again later.
Be aware, the letter 's' is transcribed as 'f' in some of the volumes. Access to the original scans or pdfs is possible where indicated, however this is by password only. To request the password drop me an email and I will advise by return. These are password protected in order to stop search engines sucking vast amounts of data from my ageing server.
